LIFE ABOARD TIVOLI

She's Gone

Much has happened since our last post over a year ago.  Though our enthusiasm for blogging waned we continued to cruise.  We traveled back to Florida, out to Eleuthera, and down to Key West and the Dry Tortugas this past year before settling in at Suntex marina in Vero Beach.  In Vero we completed many boat projects, land trips to see relatives, the usual doctor’s appointments, etc…and endured our first hurricane season in Florida.  Thankfully, Dorian spared us but we grieve for the Abacos; their loss is incalculable.  The Abacos hold a special place in our hearts as we enjoyed many fun trips there years ago with our friends Don and Linda; we married there on Tahiti Beach; and we enjoyed several trips through the islands on Tivoli.  Today, favorite haunts are obliterated; so sad.

Life marches on.  After nearly 20,000 miles; trips to Bermuda, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, the Exumas and many points between we decided to take a break from boating and move on to another adventure.  So, we mentioned our interest in selling Tivoli online and within a couple days had a buyer.  It is no wonder; the Nordhavn 50’s are comfortable sea boats with a long range and are fast (for trawlers) and fuel efficient.  They are in short supply and remain in demand long after production ceased on this model.  Last Wednesday we gave the keys to her new owners Neil and Kathleen Donahoe.  They will undoubtedly make a million memories, meet new friends, and explore the wild places such a vessel can enable.  We will miss her.

We have purchased a townhouse in Palm Beach Gardens and will now turn our attention to other interests.  But, it is surreal to be without a boat for the first time in 40 years.

I have nothing to fix.
